Artek is a Finnish design company, founded in Helsinki in 1935 by four young idealists: Alvar and Aino Aalto, Maire Gullichsen, and Nils-Gustav Hahl. As Plant Manager for our Finnish plant, A-Factory, you will oversee the production of our iconic Alvar Aalto and contemporary designs. With a dedicated team of approximately 60 people, you will be responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes and driving continuous improvements while maintaining a safe and efficient working environment. All while contributing to the legacy and ongoing evolution of a distinguished heritage brand. 

 

What You Can Expect 

  • Leadership: Manage a diverse team of direct reports and support their personal development. 

  • Operations: Oversee and continuously improve production processes, quality management and compliance with safety and legal regulations. Introduce new products and product updates. Secure reliable and stable production as well as timely product delivery. 

  • Strategy & Targets: Implement the corporate strategy at plant level. Consistently break down goals into the plant organization. 

  • Communication: Ensure smooth interaction within the plant as well as between the central Artek and Vitra departments.  

  • Budget management: Plan personnel and financial budget and operate the plant accordingly 

  • KPI-Management: Evaluate and track the plant’s KPI set and take necessary measures to achieve these.  

 

How You Can Convince 

  • 8-10 years of experience in a comparable setting (industrial manufacturing plant in a global setting, ideally, but not necessarily, experience in wood industry)  

  • Proven track record in people management and development skills  

  • Structured thinking, conceptually strong and pragmatic approach 

  • Emphatic, decisive, inspiring and visionary personality 

  • Fluent in Finnish and English, verbal and written.   

  • Excellent communication skills across all levels of the organization (incl. corporate structures) 

  • Prior experience with SAP or similar ERP systems are of advantage
